| Though I'm now knee-deep in my young adult novel, "The Barbed Wire Fields," writing screenplays is where I got my start as a writer. The first screenplay I ever wrote, "Wanna Bet," I completed in a weekend, entered it in Project Greenlight II and it placed in the Top 50. That's how I knew this was the profession for me. "Wanna Bet" earned my first television appearance. Well, really the title of my screenplay just appeared on the Top Ten consideration list during the first episode of Project Greenlight Season Two, but it's a start. I then made a foray into black comedy, with "Why, MN," which has been a semi-finalist in both the Austin Film Festival and American Zoetrope screenwriting competitions. Here I focused on creating multi-layered supporting characters. The quirky residents of the slightly psychotic township helped me create the perfect background for my sensitive serial killer and the suicidal girl. Though comedy is my favorite genre, I'm currently polishing my first suspense/thriller, "Venge." The idea of a twisted love triangle between three cops searching for the serial killer that knocked off one of their wives, only to discover the killer within their midst inspired me to give the complex genre a try. Of course I can't neglect comedy, so I've got quite a few of that genre in the works as well. Check out the loglines under Upcoming Screenplays! |
